Ella rewards people who slow down. Three days is enough to see the landmarks without turning your holiday into a checklist, and enough to notice the things a rushed visit misses.
Day one — arrive gently
Travel days are longer than they look in the hills. Arrive, unpack properly, and walk into town for an early dinner. If there is light left, a short walk towards the tea land is a good introduction to the gradient you will meet tomorrow.
Day two — one walk, one long lunch
Little Adam’s Peak in the morning is the classic choice: manageable, well-trodden, and generous with its views. Go early, carry water, and allow more time than the signs suggest. Afterwards, lunch is best taken slowly.
Day three — the railway and the valley
The Nine Arch Bridge is close by and best visited before the middle of the day. Remember the line is in use: stay off the track and away from the tunnels. Keep the afternoon free — a good trip needs one unplanned half-day.
If you have a fourth day
Consider Diyaluma Falls, a scenic drive south, or simply the hotel’s yoga deck and a book. Both count as a day well spent.
